A Glasgow health tech start-up is investing in jobs and additional office space at Maxim Park to accommodate expansion as it gears-up for international growth following new funding.

Medical device company PneumoWave has leased a further 3,950 sq. ft. of workspace – doubling its current capacity – on a new five-year deal at the park after securing £7.5 million of investment to support plans to grow its US operations.

The move, which sees the company vacate its former office in Maxim 1 to occupy two state-of-the-art suites in Maxim 3, comes as the firm plans boost its team from 18 to approximately 35 employees while expanding its operations at its Glasgow headquarters. This will be on the back of the development of a wearable device that monitors the lungs of high-risk patients, providing remote diagnostics for carers and medical services.

Dr Bruce Henderson, co-founder and CEO of PneumoWave, has said previously: “Working with leading international centres, we will now be able to accelerate our clinical validation leading to a planned regulatory submission in early 2024.”

The quality of office space at Maxim Park continues to be attractive for businesses such as PneumoWave who are looking to invest in growth, said Mark Rabinowitz, a director at Maxim Park’s landlord Shelborn Asset Management.

He said: “With its range of top-quality facilities and amenities, Maxim Park is an ideal location to support the growth and expansion plans of Scotland’s fast-growing SMEs such as PneumoWave, who are investing in infrastructure to support their ambitions. I’m sure that the company will quickly benefit from the extra space and continue to take advantage of the benefits and attractions the site offers.”

The deal was brokered by CBRE and Knight Frank, joint agents for Maxim Park.
