Getting to Know – Andrea Downie

Andrea Downie has worked as Catering Manager for Balfour Beatty here at Maxim Park for over 5 years. We chatted with Andrea to find out a little more about her working life and where she would love to get away to on holiday if she had half the chance!


Andrea, which building are you based in and what do like most about working there?
I work at Building 7. All the buildings at Maxim are great and everyone is very friendly.


Do you work permanently on site at Maxim, or is some of your working week spent at home?
I work on site at Maxim, Monday to Friday.


What has been your most memorable day whilst working at Maxim?
When my wee boy graduated at Papillion Nursery – he had been there for four and a half years. The nursery is a great facility on have onsite.


Can you tell us about how you get to Maxim each day?
I travel to and from work in my own car.


Please describe your dream holiday for us Andrea
I would love to go and see my wee cousin in Texas as she has been staying there for 12 years.


What book did you last read?
I read The Life of Prince Phillip – it was all about how he started the Duke of Edinburgh Award, helping vulnerable people and the environment.


Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that people may not know
I was Chess Champion at Primary School - about 23 years ago!


When you’re not at work what do you like to do?
I spend time with my wee boy Carson who is 6 years old and with my partner. We love going camping and fishing.


Which three famous people would you invite to dinner if you had the chance?
Mark Wahlberg, Liam Neeson and Adam Sandler


If you could be anyone from any time period, who would it be and why?
Nelson Mandela – he changed so many lives for the better
