Getting to Know – Duncan Chalmers

Duncan Chalmers, Policy Expert

Duncan Chalmers is Recruitment Coordinatior at insurance company Policy Expert, based here at Maxim Park. We tracked Duncan down and asked him a few questions to find out more about his working life as well as his life outside of the office.


Duncan, please tell us a little bit about where you work at Maxim
I have worked at Policy Expert for over 8 years and we are based at Maxim 3.

Please can you tell us about how you travel to and from Maxim each day?
I commute by car from Hamilton and this takes me about 10-15 minutes. Thankfully its a very easy commute and the free parking at Maxim is a great benefit!


What has been your most memorable day whilst working at Maxim?
That would have to be last summer’s Fun Day with the climbing wall – that was a lot of fun, especially as we had all been away from the office for a long time!


What did you miss about working at Maxim, during the Covid lockdowns?
My colleagues. Working from home was not for me. I felt isolated and couldn’t always shut off from the working day! I missed the interactions and laughs I have with my friends in Policy Expert.


Which three famous people, living or dead, would you invite to dinner?
Sarah Michelle Gellar, Calvin Harris and Chris Hemsworth.


Describe your dream holiday
Maldives, simply because it is stunning.


If you could be anyone from any time period, who would it be and why?
John Lennon – he seemed liked a pretty cool guy.


What book did you read last?
Good Vibes/Good Life by Vex King – an awesome book about unlocking your greatness.


Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that people may not know
It took me 8 times to pass my driving test!!

Avengers End Game, Complete Harry Potter franchise and Complete Jurassic Park franchise.


When you’re not at work what do you like to do?
Going to the gym, hillwalking and taking in some of the Scotland’s beautiful scenery.
