The final phase of this major regeneration project has been completed with the construction of its tenth and final building coming to an end this month. The development, on the former Chungwha Picture Tubes site, features over 750,000 square feet of premium office space across 10 modern, sustainable buildings with capacity to employ up to 8,000 workers.
Mr Murphy visited Maxim to take part in an event focused on the local authority’s employability service, North Lanarkshire’s Working. The initiative has helped 2000 people back into work in the area in the last two years.
During the visit, Mr Murphy welcomed the completion of construction at the park and expressed support for the development, saying:
“The completion of the Maxim Business Park is welcome news across Lanarkshire as it will give the region a ready made purpose built state of the art site to attract new business to the area. Lanarkshire has been hit hard by the recession, but they have already beaten their own targets for getting people back into work and the Maxim Park can only help improve on the success already achieved here.”
Maxim opened for business last year and has already welcomed a number of retail clients to the Park including premium deli Berits & Brown, convenience store, Amigo and Papillon Nursery. It has also signed initial deals with office tenants Currie & Brown and Regus who are due to open for business in May.
Karen Campbell, chief executive officer at Maxim Office Park said: “The completion of the construction phase at Maxim marks a new chapter in this significant regeneration project. We now look to build on our current momentum and attract more tenants on to the site and bring more jobs into the local area.
“Maxim is a unique proposition given its size, quality and strategic location. It offers a great platform to attract investment into Scotland and also provides an ideal base for indigenous business to enhance both the local Lanarkshire and wider Scottish economies.”
Douglas Robertson, Director at Currie & Brown said: “We are delighted to be one of the early tenants making the move to Maxim Office Park. It is an impressive site with some of the highest quality office space available on the market, ideally situated on the M8. We have staff all over the central belt so this location is ideal for them and it will increase the overall operational efficiency of the business.”
