Leading convenience store operator Amigo has become the latest name to confirm it’s creating a new store at the prestigious Maxim Office Park off the M8 in Lanarkshire.
Part of global food services company, The Compass Group, Amigo is the latest in a string of high profile lettings at the UK’s largest speculative office development. The deal will also see Compass’ part of Eurest Services take 1,950 sq ft of space in the ground floor of Maxim’s Building Three.
Amigo is currently fitting out its Maxim branch and expects to open to the public early in 2010. The Compass Group has entered into a lease at a rent of £17 per sq ft.
The Amigo announcement follows a spate of recent tenant deals at Maxim, including the forthcoming arrival of the world’s largest provider of workplace solutions Regus, which is due to set up business at the park’s Building One. Regus will initially take the first floor of the building, providing 250 workstations and eight meeting rooms, with the potential to expand operations across the remainder of the 70,000 sq ft site.
Sandwich chain Baguette Express and upmarket deli Berits & Brown have also been signed up to take significant sized units at the site.
Commenting on the deal, Maxim Chief Executive Karen Campbell said: “We are continuing to attract high quality names to Maxim, a trend which highlights the strength of the offering we have here. The enthusiasm for the development shown by retailers such as Amigo demonstrates we are establishing Maxim as a genuine mixed use location. This latest letting will provide further welcome amenities for those such as Regus, Berits & Brown, Papillon Nursery and Baguette Express.’’
She went on: “This deal marks another significant milestone in the park’s evolution, underlining its status as a new and important location for central Scotland.”
Eurest Services North Director Ruth Lomax said: “We see this as a big opportunity to get in to Maxim in the early stages and build the business as the parks occupancy grows.
“We’ve been involved in the internal design of the retail unit right from the beginning, allowing us to take tailor-made space rather than move into a pre-existing building, and that was very attractive to us.
“We’re delighted to be taking space at Maxim. The prominence of the unit we have in building three and the flexibility of the internal space has allowed us to create a state of the art convenience store with high quality products on sale to occupiers at Maxim, Eurocentral, Lanarkshire and people passing by on the M8.
“Long term, we’re looking to employ up to 50 members of staff at our Maxim Amigo store once we open for business in quarter one, 2010.’’
The £330 million Maxim Office Park features 10 international class office buildings with more than 756,000 sq ft of grade A office space. Enclosed in a beautifully landscaped environment, the park also boasts a wide range of shops and leisure facilities - including a PGA accredited nine hole putting course.
